It may help to either rub in a circular motion or blot at the area with a clean cloth. Seal the top of the bag and place it on the silly putty.

Here are a few different ways that you can get rid of silly putty from your carpet. Use circular motion instead. A ziplock bag with enough ice in it to cover the whole area of the silly putty is what you need. Be cautious not to push the putty further into the carpet.

Place the bag of ice on the silly putty and leave it for a few hours. Continue blotting at the residue until all of the putty is removed. Check periodically to determine your progress. Let it sit for 2 3 hours refilling the bag as needed whenever the ice melts.

I imagine rubbing alcohol would break up the silly putty too but haven t tried it just a thought. Freezing the silly putty step 1.
