Setting the alarm system.
Highlander alarm locks the doors.
Touch the lock sensor indentation on the upper part of the door handle to lock all the doors.
The system will be set automatically after 30 seconds.
Check the power and grounds to it.
Next you will should see a plastic shroud protecting the inside parts from the weather.
Do one of the following to deactivate or stop the alarms.
Press the lock button to lock all the doors.
Swap the power and ground on the terminals and then see if the door locks move the opposite direction.
Once the door panel is off you will notice an electrical wire connecting the power door locks to the inside of the door.
Deactivating or stopping the alarm.
Jump power and ground to the terminals and see if the door locks operate.
Vehicles without a smart key system.
Close the doors glass hatch if equipped and hood and lock all the doors.
For vehicles with an alarm.
To prevent unintended triggering of the alarm unlock the doors using the wireless remote control and open and close a door once after the settings have been changed.
When the transmission is pulled from park all the doors will automatically lock.
Alarm goes off when car is locked with remote alarm didn t go off at all while at the beach locked on door handle not using the key sounds again randomly in our garage.
When the transmission is pushed back into park the doors will unlock in the same fashion.
If they will lock and unlock as the power and ground is supplied then the circuit is good and the main body ecu would be at fault.
The indicator light changes from being on to flashing when the system is set.
Carefully undo this connection.
